The Certified Development Project Manager (CDPM®) is a professional development program designed to increase the capabilities of staff working in development organizations and NGOs worldwide. The CDPM certification confirms that participants have acquired knowledge of the processes, methods, techniques, and tools necessary for the effective management of development projects.

A certification is a valuable credential for professionals working in development projects. In particular, those who are seeking to increase their responsibilities, obtain a raise or explore new job opportunities. This certificate is essential for development projects and for program managers charged with leading a cross-functional or project team to success. It is appropriate for organizational leaders, mid-level managers, and project managers who need to learn the critical leadership skills to ensure high project team performance. Public and non-profit organizations require certified project managers as projects grow in complexity and donors demand transparency, accountability, and efficiency.

Upon successful completion of the program, certificate holders will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to manage the various phases of economic and social development projects.
  • Plan and monitor work to complete assigned tasks within the established timeframe and in accordance with objectives.
  • Develop analytical frameworks, use effective communication techniques, and apply planning and management methodologies.
  • Understand the use of various tools and processes, as well as the project manager's roles.
  • Increase managerial insight to ensure projects are completed on time, on budget and within scope.
  • Use the soft skills, practices, and processes required to be a successful project manager.

PM4DEV uses an online system to award digital badges that verify that a person has successfully completed the CDPM program. The Badgr site keeps a record of your CDPM credential, and you can use it to share it on social sites such as Facebook or LinkedIn.
