This course provides an introduction to the disciplined approaches to development  project management. While development  projects are similar in some ways to other types of projects, they pose unique challenges for the managers and organizations that undertake them.

This course will give students an understanding of the most common processes, tools, techniques, and theories that are necessary to manage development projects. This course examines the defining characteristics of development projects, and introduces the student to a variety of project management techniques that can be applied in a development project context. 

Successful completion of all the course requirements will led to the award of a Certificate of Completion. 

About this Course

This intensive and hands-on course gives you the skills to ensure your projects are completed on time and on budget while giving the user the product they expect. You will gain a strong working knowledge of the basics of project management and be able to immediately use that knowledge to effectively manage work projects.

Course Audience

This course is designed specifically for the project management professional who understands the basic concepts explored in our course Fundamentals of project Management and is seeking more advanced skills, both process-based and people-based. including: professionals wishing to upgrade their skills and knowledge,  team members, managers of project managers and students of project management.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the Mastering  Project Management Online course participants will: Understand the nine knowledge areas of project management, know the steps required to plan and manage each project management process and use the primary planning documents for a project. 

Course Requirements

Understand the characteristics of a project and its process deliverables. Understanding of projects, project leadership, project management and/or related experience is a recommended requirement. It is recommended that students have completed the online course “Fundamentals of Project Management” to have a good understanding of key definitions and concepts of project management.

Access to the online course starts upon the approval of your application.

Course Application:
Once your application is approved you will receive an email with instructions to register in the online course.

Course Materials:
Course materials are available for download from the online course module page to allow for printing and review. 

Final Exam: 
Online participants are asked to complete a final exam at the end of the course and submit a course essay. A completion certificate will be emailed to participants when they pass the evaluation of the essay. 

Course Evaluation: 
It is required that participants complete the course evaluation once they have passed the final exam.
